Many Happy Returns Travel is so named because they want their clients to return happy and therefore rebook many times. The business was started by Barbara Proctor and her family in 1994, becoming a limited company in 1999. By the following year it achieved a multi-million pound turnover, which continues to grow year by year. Their focus is increasingly devoted towards business travel management and steps have been taken to provide large corporate clients considerable savings on their travel spend.
Through a desire to provide real benefit to it's clients and to the community, Many Happy Returns Travel has won a number of prestigious awards from the travel industry. Although still a small family business, they do a great deal to support sustainable travel. Much of their time is devoted to imputing ideas to government and advisory groups. They plant trees locally and purchase areas of rainforest in South America to try and offset CO2 emissions caused by travel. In addition, they have recently been granted a UKAS Quality Management Award. A former teacher, Barbara Proctor now gives some of her time to lecture to travel students in local colleges as well as inviting full classes of schoolchildren into the business premises on a regular basis.
MHR Travel's interest in community support, together with eco-friendly, sustainable travel, has grown to such an extent that the company is now a registered ' Community Interest Company' or 'C.I.C'. As such the Directors have donated all the company assets and 85% of annual profits for the benefit of the community. MHR Travel is satisfied with the profits made in previous years and is no longer a primarily for profit company. MHR Travel is the first travel company in the U.K. to become a C.I.C.
Travel is important to the world in which we live. It adds variety to our lives, to the lives of those we visit and those who visit us.
Travel gives us wider experiences which expand our minds. Even those who travel little, benefit by a greater variety of products, business opportunities, knowledge and respect for distant communities as a result.
However, it has to be recognized that the travel industry is more guilty in most contributing to damage of the environment through pollution and exploitation.
MHR Travel will continue to devote much of it's resources to help conserve, respect and enjoy our world without promoting austere methods to do so.
